Project Description: In May 2023, Plymouth Marjon University appointed Expedite to spearhead a transformative refurbishment project. This ambitious undertaking involved converting a pre-existing two-storey building from its prior role as teaching and office space into a cutting-edge training hub. The resulting facility is poised to serve as a public-facing asset for Plymouth and, importantly, support the university’s courses, focusing on critical areas such as nursing, physiotherapy, and various other vital skills essential for the NHS departments.

Expedite are appointed on a multi-disciplinary basis and have been able to approach the scheme holistically. Our scope covered architecture, interior design, building services, planning, as well as structural and civil engineering. This diverse expertise was harnessed to ensure the success and seamless integration of this transformation from concept to reality.

The University secured government funding for this campus improvement, magnifying the significance of delivering within budgetary constraints. Our team has embraced this challenge wholeheartedly, making every effort to optimise the allocated funds while ensuring that the resulting facilities are truly state-of-the-art. It has been a balancing act, requiring careful consideration and innovation in design and execution.

Construction was completed in just ten months, representing a diligent and well-structured timeline for this extensive transformation. Now open and serving the university and the community, the Health and Wellbeing Hub will provide a modern, versatile, and fully equipped facility that will serve both for generations to come.
