Project Description: The second site of Cardiff Sixth Form’s relocation involves the construction of a new student accommodation building featuring 425 student beds, 17 house-parent apartments in a 10-storey element, and an 18-storey tower with a raised podium deck and play area.

The building will also include social and study spaces, music rooms, a gym, and a training kitchen to help prepare A-level students for university transition. In addition to the student facilities, there will also be a ground-floor commercial unit, parking, landscaping with public realm improvements, and other related works.

Our Design Team have worked hard to design an efficient  facility to accommodate multiple users, maximising both the functional use for the College but also the building as a Community facility. Our design choices have been considered in keeping with the project’s restricted budget to ensure financial feasibility. Two key features in our design were to minimise the construction period to reduce community disruption and designing in a way that the facility can optimise operational to provide long- term community sustainability.

We have worked closely with a range of consultants on this scheme, both in house and external and are delighted to be part of a scheme that delivers a cost-effective, safe, and adaptable building that will serve as a valuable asset to the College and community for decades to come. Through meticulous planning and execution, it stands as a model for future projects aimed at enriching student welfare and community well-being.
